Day 5: 7th June 2025 – Flying to Capetown
Not such an early start today. Up at 6:00 and ready by 7:00 for our bags to be picked up by porters. We had breakfast and boarded our minibus at 8:15 for the transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and our flight to Cape Town. Left on time at 12:05 on an airline I’d heard of, FlySafair. Landed at 14.45 and left the airport at 15:10 for 30 30-minute drive to the Onomo Foreshore Hotel. We left glorious sunshine in Johannesburg for rain in Cape Town. The weather forecast is for improving conditions over the next few days. We had dinner at the hotel. I tried an African dish consisting of a grilled whole fresh water fish called Tilapia, with fried plantain, which is in the banana family but can be used in savoury dishes. It was fried and was a bit like having sweet potato. It was very nice. Food here is cheaper than in Sydney. We stayed until 20:00 chatting with some of the other guests who are very lovely.
