Day 4 : 6th June 2025 – Second safari around Kruger National Park
Same early start as yesterday, but this time in the opposite direction, south, which afforded us some beautiful sunrise vistas, also helped by clear skies, unlike yesterday’s cloudy skies.. We saw so many impalas yesterday that we don’t even stop for them now. 8:00 coffee and restroom stop, then backtracked on our way because Sharon was told of a rhino spotting. I imagine that if we tried this on our own, we would see fewer animals. We did see quite a few private cars doing their
thing.
We went to the same spot for lunch as yesterday, and this is one thing that should be improved, as the takeaway food on offer isn’t great.
After lunch, another driver told Sharon there were lions at the dam, so she drove us there and we did see five lions, a herd of buffalo and a group of hippos lazing by the water. Sharon said the lions were probably following the buffalo.
So we ended the safari on a high before returning to the camp at 16:30. Tonight we were treated to a traditional African BBQ called a braai. We had traditional African salads, vegetables, steaks, boar sausages and chicken kebabs. It was all very delicious.
We are due to leave at 8:00 tomorrow, so a bit of a sleep-in tonight, compared to the last couple of nights.
